Americans United Threatens Lawsuit Over Christian License Plates

Welcome Filed Under: Labels: ,

Americans United for Separation of Church and State has urged the Florida Senate to reject a bill creating two “Christian” license plates for state motorists and warned that a lawsuit may result if the measure becomes law.

SB 642 mandates issuance of a plate depicting the crucified head of Jesus complete with a crown of thorns. It also mandates a second plate featuring a large cross, a stained-glass church window and the words “I Believe.”

“These plates clearly violate the Constitution and basic fairness,” said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, Americans United executive director. “It’s wrong for the legislature to favor one faith over others. If this bill passes, it is almost certain to provoke a lawsuit.

US University Prohibits Thanking Jesus At Graduation

Welcome Filed Under: Labels: ,

A professor at the government-funded University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) has prohibited a graduating student from saying "I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," in her own graduation speech, amid a heated debate over using that name in public across the United States, Worthy News established Wednesday, June 3.

Christina Popa posted the proof emails on her page of the community Website Facebook. The e-mails seemed to show that while other students were permitted to have their speeches read aloud, Popa's would only be allowed if it didn't mention Jesus Christ.

UCLA Biology Professor Dr. Pamela Hurley censored Popa's proposed speech, saying in en e-mail: "UCLA is a public university where the doctrine of separation of church and state is observed..." The undervisity does permit graduates "to thank God in their words of wisdom, but we also ask that they refrain from making more specific religious references of any kind," the professor wrote.

"In this setting, even I would not personally be comfortable reading: "I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," she added. When Popa objected, Dr. Hurley threatened, "If you prefer, Christina, I can read none of what you wrote. I am very sorry that this is a problem for you."

Fluoride in our water dangerous?

Welcome Filed Under: Labels: ,

Most Americans never even think about the fluoride that is in the water that they drink, the water that they bathe in and the water that they brush their teeth in. But could this substance which is supposed to be helping us actually be doing serious damage to our health that we don't even realize?

The truth is that it would be very difficult to overstate the fluoride dangers that most people in the United States are facing.

Fluoride is actually a toxic sedative. It was given to prisoners in Nazi and Soviet death camps to calm prisoners down and to make them easier to handle. It has also been shown to impair mental functions.

The truth is that fluoride is one of the biggest reasons why Americans are getting sicker and stupider every day.

Have you ever wondered why you feel so lethargic?

Have you ever wondered why you really can't think that clearly?

Well, it just might be the fluoride in your water.

How could this be?

Let's take a closer look at fluoride.....

"Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century"
-Robert Carlton, Ph. D., former U. S. EPA scientist on " Marketplace" Canadian Broadcast Company, Nov. 24, 1992

Here is how one blogger summed up the damaging effects of Fluoride.....

Even small amounts of fluoride consumed from tap water can damage your bones, teeth, brain, disrupt your thyroid function, lower IQ and/or cause cancer, according to evidence revealed in a groundbreaking 2006 National Research Council (NRC) fluoride report produced by a panel of experts who reviewed hundreds of published fluoride studies.

But isn't fluoride good for our teeth?

No.

The reality is that fluoride plays havoc with the immune system, it contributes to the calcification of soft tissues, and it is the cause dental fluorosis in children.

Have you ever seen those unsightly white, yellow or brown spots on the teeth of children?

Have you ever wondered what they are from?

Fluoride.

In fact, Dr. Phyllis Mullenix believes, based on her research, that fluoride actually lowersthe I.Q. of children ("Neurotoxicity of Sodium Fluoride in Rats", Mullenix, P. Neurotoxicology and Teratology, 17 (2), 1995).

The truth is that fluoride is so bad for you it is hard to even list all of the bad effects.

Why is atheism experiencing explosive growth all over the world?

Welcome Filed Under: Labels: ,

Atheism is experiencing explosive growth all over the world. Even in the United States the number of atheists is surging. The truth is that people in most modern nations are rejecting the concept of "god" more than ever before, and this is really starting to frighten many major religious institutions.

In a 2008 Gallup survey, 15 percent of Americans claimed no religion at all. That is up from only 8% in 1990. That is almost a doubling in the number of "non-religious" in less than 20 years. That is explosive growth! In fact, the "non-religious" now outnumber all religious organizations in the United States except for the Catholics and the Baptists.

But the U.S. cannot yet match the enthusiasm of British atheists. More than 100,000 people in the U.K. have recently downloaded "certificates of de-baptism" from a website that seeks to assist the non-religious in renouncing their Christian faith.

The de-baptism certificates are being distributed by a group called the "National Secular Society". This campaign comes on the heels of a highly successful bus advertising campaign by atheists in the U.K. that promoted this slogan: "There's probably no God."

The growth of atheism shows no signs of slowing down.

Millions in both the United States and the U.K. are eagerly buying books by militant atheists.

Just consider the titles of a few recent New York Times bestsellers.....

*"God is Not Great: Why Religion Poisons Everything" by journalist Christopher Hitchens.

*"The End of Faith" by atheist author Sam Harris.

*"The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.

So why are so many people now turning to atheism?

Polygamists demand multi-sex marriage

Welcome Filed Under: Labels: ,

A polygamy advocacy organization says the New Hampshire law that is intended to assure "equal access to marriage" for all instead specifically embeds in state statutes bigotry against polygamists.

According to a statement posted on the Pro-Polygamy website, when on Wednesday New Hampshire "became the sixth U.S. State to codify the legal construction of same sex marriage," it was hailed by homosexuals as a "civil rights victory."

"Declaring that the new law advances fairness and equality for all, they proclaimed that New Hampshire had supposedly 'ended discrimination' for everyone," the statement said.

"But the law did no such thing. Rather, it intentionally 'discriminates' against consenting adult polygamists – indeed, on purpose," the organization said.

The fact that polygamists, and indeed those with other sexual proclivities, would use the same "civil rights" and "equality" arguments forwarded by homosexuals seeking "marriage" rights has been predicted for years.

Obama declares June ‘LGBT Pride Month’

Welcome Filed Under: Labels: ,

In a Monday proclamation, President Barack Obama declared June 2009 to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month, outlining his plan to advance homosexual political concerns.

Instead of acknowledging those who disagree with his stance on such issues, the president called on all Americans to “turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists.” His proclamation began by referring to “patrons and supporters” of the Stonewall Inn homosexual bar in New York City who rioted against police.

“Out of this resistance, the LGBT rights movement in America was born. During LGBT Pride Month, we commemorate the events of June 1969 and commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans,” he said.

The President said he was proud to be the first president to appoint “openly LGBT candidates” to Senate-confirmed position in his first 100 days in office.
